No, not listening….listing! There are times that we get so caught up in the hype and the success that others have and we tend to forget about what we have to offer. As a student, you may not be surrounded by people who push you to achieve your goals and give you the drive that you need to take chances. The fear tends to get the best of people but that is only because they haven’t experienced the essence of life that comes along with taking risks.

Listing skills that you have as your very own person is going to show you that your purpose is universal. We all have something very distinct to offer and it’s symbolic for the positions that we hold in life. Every time that you are utilizing your special talent or skill you are actually giving the world the food and water that it needs to grow and change. Change will always be either positive or negative, but what of it? Listing skills will help you to regain a sense of self which in turn will help you to regain yourself as a student in this world.

This skill may have been inept in you or it may have been gained after you made a sacrifice and gained experience all on your own. Being that we are all fortunate enough to have different skills, we are also creating a larger community and a service that we were designed for. It’s often that we are skilled in one area but we aren’t interested in it. That doesn’t mean that we should further ourselves with another skill so that we can do we what love, and create that to be a job that we can happily wake up to every day.

The importance of listing skills lies behind the security that you have in yourself as well as a realization. At times, we can be diluted by the thoughts that others put into our head and the images that society flashes in front of us. This will give us false pretensions of what we want to be and what we should be. We have to come to terms with the potential that lies within our mind and our persistence.

We have so much power to change the world that it almost scares us. Our voice is significant, and it is all your own. That’s a beautiful thing. Losing your sense of self is also losing the gift that you were given and that’s life. Life means growing, making mistakes, learning, pushing, accepting and so many other ideas that we tend to take for granted.

We get so caught up in our competitive streak or the opinions of others that we forget who we are and all the beauty that we have to offer to the world. There are many different forms of beauty, and we all have one. Listing skills will help you find those and gain a sense of self- because, you do have a purpose.

Study Abroad

Blogs

Have you considered studying abroad instead of doing so locally? There are more advantages that come from this way of educating yourself for personal reasons or for a career implementation. Study abroad fits in with our human brain, being that we are always in need of new environments, people and ideas to grow and change in the right way instead of negatively. Unfortunately, money becomes an issue when we are in need of all of these things. To study abroad we are not only gaining new information, but we are doing it in a way that is going to help us learn.

Introducing ourselves to new cultures, traditions and religions is not only going to further our education but our experience and the way that we understand the world at large. When we can gain an appreciation for other areas, and the way that they practice their day to day religion then we can also appreciate our own and what we have to offer towards a community.

Gaining a respect for others and the types of persistence that they have expressed in the area of culture is going to make us appreciate what we have. We will in turn learn about ourselves, as students. Even if you aren’t in school or going to college you are always a student. A teacher and new information are a precious gift. Experiencing life throughout the world is a sacred gift, and it cannot be appreciated until it is experienced.

To study abroad you have the opportunity to see the treatment towards others in relation to their education, work life and family or peer relationships. In different parts of the world, there are different costs and ways of doing things that may be perceived as injustice or unfair. Then again, what is considered fair and unfair? Who’s to say that the community that you are living in right now isn’t doing everything the wrong way?

Although your opinion would be concrete in your community, it may be completely inadequate in another. That is okay, and that is where educational acceptance will allow us to grow further as our own person. It’s a beautiful idea if you consider it. To study abroad you are going to look at the cost of things being different, and you are going to view other’s perceptions of you to be quite different than where you originally came from.

This is going to give you an appreciation or depreciation for your origin; and this will give you an opportunity regain a sense of self and discover where you really want to live or practice life. It may completely change your thoughts on the type of career that you want, and it may change who you are as a person- but, that’s necessary. The birth and death of ourselves, emotions, thoughts, relationships and routine are all a part of life, and it is the very nature of the world that we live in.

Writing Skills

Blogs

Writing skills are undermined in society, being that we are tucking away our pens and our pencils for the computers and mobile gadgets that we have available to us. Students tend to forget about writing skills because they seem unnecessary with all the conveniences in recording information and data. There are shortcuts that we use to communicate with others, and it is blanketing an education that is supremely essential for learning and communicating with others.

Writing skills may take time to discover and put into full effect, but they are not only going to improve your writing. English is its own category and the writing, reading and communicating part is linked together while creating a world that we use and take part in every day. Whether we are conscious of it or not we use our writing skills when we are expressing verbatim. Improving your writing skills will in turn improve your vocabulary and the way that you are capable of expressing your thoughts, education and ideas with others.

As a student it may seem difficult to improve your writing skills if you don’t care about them, but that is where yourself sacrifice kicks into gear. We have to do things that discourage us so that we can gain a higher reward from it. Sacrifice and being incompatible is a part of life, and if you can come to terms with it then you will gain a precious reward from it. Life seems to be a game, doesn’t it? It seems to be a test and unfair.

We all want to live happily and enjoy the finer things in life, but we aren’t willing to dedicate ourselves to a world that requires our strengths, ideas and concepts of change to continue. As a student you can write and change a world. You can have a conversation with someone else who you may relate to all because you had the English skills to have that conversation. While everything seems to be in disarray at times or completely in order, your writing skills will help you to organize your life the way that you want it and implement a plan that you have somewhere in the back of your head.

With writing skills you can gain new information from reading a book. Reading is the only way that we can further our knowledge because it is linked to our memorization skills. Memorizing things is how we gain a new job, new information and new forms of communication. That is how we adapt to a foreign language, and it is even how we read people through their demeanor.

Writing skills are another form of communication. Start by writing your feelings and your frustrations and start by reading a book of your own choice and writing down a word that you are unsure of. Later, look that word up and repeat it a few times in your head. You have just learned a new word that you can use in a conversation with someone later down the line.

Self Esteem

Blogs

Self-esteem issues have stemmed from something greater. It may have been an experience with someone somewhat intimate in your life who has criticized you and the types of qualities that you have to offer. It may have been a physical critique which has caused you to feel insecure while meeting new people. You’d be surprised as to how words can impact a single soul for all of eternity.

Before I advise you on how you can fix your self-esteem issues you should first acknowledge that some of the most iconic and intelligent people who have impacted culture and society have been unattractive or unsatisfactory in the physicality department. Over time, the importance of sex and attraction has been enhanced and created to be something quite unreal. We are surrounded by women and men who are air-brushed to a T. We then gain the insight that we should look like them because they are the ones with the fame, money and success.

From experience, I can tell you that these people have had some of the worst self-esteem problems. This comes from a competition streak deep inside of you that is only going to hurt you and dampen the other areas of life in which you should be working on. Self-esteem problems are quite normal, but… if you really considered how often other people don’t think about you (even if you are the most beautiful woman on earth) you would feel a lot better about yourself when you are presenting your image to others.

Get a paper right now and write down all the compliments that you have ever received- whether it’s intellectual, kind, funny, strong, generous or independent there are note worthy traits that you must come to terms with before you can nail yourself on the head with things that may not be up to par with somebody else. I’ve known very beautiful people in this world who have turned out to be heart broken by the person they assumed to have loved. Beauty isn’t everything, and it is only being fortunate if you are born with good looks.

Just like anything else, some of us are born with talents and positive traits. Boosting your self esteem may take time, and that’s okay. Do you know when those insecurities will go away? They will dissolve when you find peers who are just like you, and they may relate to you on the same self-esteem level. You may feel alone but absolutely everybody has self-esteem issues, and that’s the beauty in it all. How insignificant is everyone else’s thoughts on who you are?

They are so irrelevant that it is almost pathetic that so many people feel such great insecurities. You need to walk with your head held high because you are the one and only person on this planet who is just like you. That’s an achievement in itself. Don’t take this life for granted because of others’ perception of you.

Stress Management

Blogs

It seems as if we all put a lot of pressure on ourselves when it comes to critiquing our own work or maintain a life that consists of good grades, physical activity, social relationships and self-gain; but, when is enough, enough? Stress management is one of the most important forms of therapy and balance that you can adopt into your life. The most important thing that you can do before you can learn to control your stress is by acknowledging where it is coming from and why you are feeling it.

If you are stressed out because you are attempting to round out your life in a way that is fitting to everyone, then you need to stop and take a look around. What is more important? The perception that others have of you or how you measure your progress in life? Many students make the mistake of getting caught up in their personal lives and social competition in turn disregarding their work as a burden or a waste of their valuable time.

I can tell you this… stress comes from trying to do too many things at once while also being unsure as to where you are heading in life. There are certain types of personalities that will endure stress more so than others. Those who tend to perfect their work and those who are hard on themselves may find difficult in the area of stress relief. Some tend to look at their perfection like complex as one that is a favor in itself.

This can be a very good thing and a motivation behind your work. Many actors, musicians and world icons didn’t know how to enhance their stress management because they were constantly critiquing themselves. Although it can be an advantage, it can also be quite dangerous. Stress can spur physical illnesses and play a part in your appearance as well as other areas of your life.

You may begin to lose relationships or hobbies due to your stress… which is why you must adopt stress management. Everything links to the way that you feel: diet, rest, work, social activity, communication and your self esteem. This is a domino effect as well. When you begin to get enough rest and eat better, then you will begin to feel healthy. When you truly feel good inside then you will start completing your work faster and treat others with respect. When people are “happy” then they tend to promote happiness in others.

Don’t be afraid to make yourself happy in the midst of a test exam or studying your materials. Come to a happy medium in which you treat yourself to an espresso drink while you are studying and do so in a library so that you can experience some peace and quiet. You have to discipline yourself throughout stress management, and it’s going to benefit you in the long run. Start to eat healthier, drink more water and rest so that you can study for a period of time before you ace that test of yours!

Setting Goals

Blogs

What is the importance of setting goals? If, as a student or an instructor, you can look at the big picture, then you will find that the only way to grow and achieve bigger and better things is by constantly challenging ourselves. Doing things “outside of the box” is a difficult task for those who are insecure in ways. Insecurities come from an outside opinion, and the surroundings that an individual has grown up in.

When we are fed information enough and when others attach us to ideas and concepts outside of ourselves then we begin to conform to that idea. The important notion to work off of when it comes to achieving bigger and better things is by setting goals and self-discipline. Did you know that laziness, and self-discipline are some of the two most common ideas that will prevent us from being happy in life and achieving milestones? It’s true!

Setting goals and forcing ourselves to work at them will not only build character, but it will require us to search for different ways of doing things in our head. Venturing out of our comfort zone is the only way that we can lessen the amount of fear and insecurities that we’re feeling and grow into something wise, experienced and humble. As a student, setting goals without competing with others is the only way to measure our own success.

Take a closer look at where you were 6 months ago and where you are now. If you feel that you have gained experienced in at least one area of your life, then you have grown upwards instead of downwards. All of us have to face different battles to get where we want to be. It may not be fair, but it will require more strength on the behalf of the individual who has to work ten times harder. In the end, isn’t that a gift?

It may seem torturous and painful, being that we have some sort of life handicap that seems to be holding us back from being successful and achieving a good outcome…but, in the end, it is molding our character and the amount of tolerance that we have when it comes to facing difficulties throughout life. It isn’t about achieving your goal; it’s the journey that you take getting there. When you are setting goals, and you achieve them every time without difficulty, then you’re never going to understand that there’s a different part of life. A side of life that is painful and full of turmoil.

Without an understanding of the things that set the world off balance then there will never be an understanding of what life is in general. The beauty in everything and as a student is coming to realize who you are, where you came from and what helps you to grow mentally, physically, emotionally, etc. Every time that you push yourself in learning, and every time you hit the books, you are increasing your chances of having the grade that you want. It takes sacrifice for reward.

Study Groups

Blogs

The importance of having study groups and meeting regularly to study for an upcoming exam cannot be measured. When you are forced to meet up with peers who are attaining the same information as you and studying it for the same matter of importance you are also upping your chances of receiving a treasured grade.

If study groups can create a schedule and meet together at certain times for the purpose of communicating verbally with the material, then there’s a better chance of you enjoying your study time and doing it with people what are looking for the same reward. There are so many ways that you can make a routine out of meeting with other students; plan on meeting at a coffee shop at a certain time.

You would be surprised as to how much more material you would have an understanding of versus how much you would retain if you were to study alone without flashcards or the repeating of important key words within the chapter of a textbook. Study groups will motivate you to work harder and gain some of the information that the other students may already understand. Although it isn’t always envisioned as a positive trait, competition will cause us to grow and gain experience in a certain area of life.

If you have somewhat of a competitive streak, and you dislike being the one with the lower hand in the classroom, then this type of studying may move you to know more and understand more. It’s a bit more enjoyable when you are with people that you care for. It can be difficult to study by ourselves, especially when we are distracted by things at home, which may disrupt us from thinking about the study material.

Family members or commotion going on inside of our house may be disrupting our school work and study habits more than we know. You have to create an environment that you are going to feel focused in, and you are going to have to fuel your body in a way that keeps it energized. Having a little caffeine, a lot of water and snacks to graze on will keep your energy level up.

This will keep you motivated in finishing a study assignment or going through all the flashcards. Study groups may help you by criticizing the way that you do your problems. Other students may come across a mistake that you’re making that you would normally be completely unaware of. Switch the studying sessions up by meeting in new areas.

What is stronger than a community of people exposing themselves to new information and new ways of doing things? Also, it is a way to meet new people and gain new friendships from school work. If you would use a bit of creativity while you are studying you would be surprised as to how much you actually remember when test time rolls around. Communicate with other students within your classroom and see if they would be interested in getting a study group together.

Study Motivation

Blogs

The reference to study motivation may send shivers down your spine, although it really comes down to what your motivation is in general. What do you wish to come out of your life and what do you find purpose in? I can tell all of you students this: education is the one material that you will always have linked to you. Beauty and strength will fade… but, education is infinite. It will help you in times of turmoil and create you to be a person that you were completely unaware of being.

There is so much potential in retaining information that it is overwhelming, which is why a study motivation will help you to find relief in all of these thick textbooks and study guides. What is your motivation when it comes to your degree and education? The best thing to do is look at how long you’re going to have to work in comparison to how much it’s going to pay off in the end. You must be studying for a greater outcome, and this outcome must come into play with your future career or life sentiment.

A study motivation can be anything that you choose it to be. It may be a comfortable future with a knowledge that will help you with the career that you have dreamt of having. Studying is like exercise- it’s difficult to start and push through, but once it’s over you are going to feel relief and confidence in all the hard work that you put into it. A study motivation could be the support that you are going to have to give to your family financially due to the hard times that we are facing within the 21st century.

This can be anything that you want it to be. It may help you to study if you would simply realize the importance in an education and where it can take you somewhere within the near future. Pushing through the things that you do not want to do is going to determine tomorrow, the next day and your final grade! Rise above the qualities that we have within us that allows us to slack off and remain stagnant.

You truly have all the tools necessary in gaining reward and experience, but you cannot sit back and relax if you want to see change. Change comes from acting on change. You have to redirect your life if you want to reach different milestones. Although it sounds easy it can be quite difficult, especially when we feel to have a lot to carry on our shoulders.

It’s the persistence that will keep you going, and it has to do with how you prioritize your life and how much fear you conquer while doing so. There is an opportunity with every new person you meet and every time that you act on a study motivation you are furthering your chances in opening yet another door. Don’t give into those qualities that make us lazy and careless because they will only bring you down instead of up.

Test Taking Strategies

Blogs

Do you tend to get nervous amidst a test and end up forgetting all the information that you studied hard the night before?
